Hospitalsand other health care facilities sometimes useequipment that can be sensitive to external radiosignals.2.2 PacemakerPacemaker manufacturers recommend a distanceof at least 15 cm. between a mobile phone and apacemaker to avoid the risk of interference withthe pacemaker. These recommendations are inaccordance with independent research and re-commendations from Wireless Technology Re-search. Please park the car on theroadside for communication except in case ofemergency.6UK2.3 Areas with explosion riskAlways turn off the unit when you are in an areawhere there is a risk of explosion and follow allsigns and instructions. An explosion risk exists inthe places that include areas where you are nor-mally requested to turn off your car engine. Withinsuch an area, sparks can cause explosions or firewhich can lead to personal injuries or even death.Turn off the unit at filling stations i.e. near petrolpumps and garages. Follow the restrictions thatare in force on the use of radio equipment nearplaces where fuel is stored and sold, chemical fac-tories and places where blasting is in progress.Areas with risk for explosion are often– but not always – clearly marked. This also appliesto below decks on ships: the transport or storageof chemicals; vehicles that use liquid fuel (such aspropane or butane); areas where the air containschemicals or particles, such as grain, dust or metalpowder.2.4 Emergency callsImportant!Mobile phones use radio signals and the mobilephone network.
