The extraordinarydemand for ADSL service has acceleratedthe demand for higher-density equipment.Furthermore, as the demand for VDSL2grows, both splitter and non-splitter appli-cations will be required. The ADTRAN ® Total Access ® 3050 isdesigned to meet this demand by providingthe ADSL/VDSL and POTS signal splitting/combining function. It is configured to inte-grate with the Total Access 3000 DSLAM using28 Octal splitters or cut-through modules perchassis and is ANSI T1.413 compliant. Theshelf is a solid metal design with a latched, hinged, metal front cover for easy access. Afiltered airflow is maintained from the front ofthe chassis. The Total Access 3050 utilizes afour-pole splitter design and no activecomponents are on the standard splittermodules. No direct current (DC) blockingcapacitor is required.ADTRAN designs products that maximizefunctionality for its carrier customers. In thatregard, the Total Access 3050 accommodatesother service cards such as SHDSL, IMA,IDSL, DS1 FR, CES, and DSX-1. These can beutilized by installing a cut-through moduleinstead of a splitter module in thecorresponding shelf. The unit uses make-before-break connec-tors to maintain POTS connectivity andoperate normally without a splitter moduleinstalled. Connection to the Total Access 3000DSLAM is established using 64-pin connec-tors.The rear of the shelf has twenty 50-pin andeight 64-pin amp connectors, one DB-25connector for Metallic Test Access (MTA), andone RS-485 wire-wrap bus for daisy chainingsplitter shelves. There is a standard powerconnector for –48 V, –48 V return, and chassisground. The system will also support MTA. Withthe addition of the metallic test controlmodule and modules with MTA, the shelf willinterface with metallic test heads and provideaccess to the loops. There are MTA modulesfor both ADSL and cut-through applications.DSLAM Splitter ShelfTotal Access 3050 DSLAM Splitter Shelf
