As a branch office ormid-size host security gateway, the NetVanta2300 provides several key security features suchas IPSec VPN tunneling with DES or 3DESencryption, stateful inspection firewall, and IKEfor user authentication supportingpublic/private keys or digital certificates. Inaddition, it also offers a DMZ port for publicserver access, a hardware encryption acceleratorfor faster encryption throughput and up to 100simultaneous VPN tunnels.Security: On a public infrastructure like theInternet, security is of the utmost importance.The NetVanta 2300 protects the corporatenetwork against attacks with a built-in firewalland provides data security through encryption,authentication and key exchange. The NetVanta2300 employs a stateful inspection firewall thatprotects an organization’s network fromcommon cyber attacks including TCP syn-flooding, IP spoofing, ICMP redirect, landattacks, ping-of-death, and IP reassembly prob-lems. The NetVanta 2300 also encrypts the databeing sent out onto the network, using either theDES (Data Encryption Standard) or 3DESencryption algorithms. Data integrity is ensuredusing MD5 or SHA1 as it is transported acrossthe public infrastructure. In addition, InternetKey Exchange (IKE) can be used for user authen-tication supporting public/private keys or digitalcertificates, assuring that the proper VPN tunnelis established and that the tunnel has not beenredirected or compromised.VPN Tunneling: NetVanta 2300 is an IPSeccompliant device that supports both ESP andAH protocols and provides secure communica-tion over potentially unsecure networkcomponents. As a security gateway, the NetVanta2300 can support up to 100 private encryptioncommunication tunnels through the Internetfrom remote locations. The NetVanta 2300 canalso hide IP addresses from the external world byperforming Network Address Translation (NAT).Web-based Management: Configuring a remoteNetVanta 2300 can easily be managed using astandard web browser. NetVanta 2300 has built-in alert and logging mechanisms for messagingand mail services. This enables the unit to warnadministrators about activities that are going onin the network by logging them into a SYSLOGserver or sending an email to the administrator.The NetVanta 2300 offers guaranteed interoper-ability with ADTRAN’s complete line of NetVanta2000 Series of VPN/Security gateways: NetVanta2050 for work-at-home telecommuters, NetVanta2100 for small office connectivity, NetVanta 2400for larger corporate host applications, and thesoftware implemented, NetVanta VPN Client.Together the NetVanta 2000 Series offers the mostrobust features and functions to address a widerange of enterprise VPN needs.
