IP 700 Series Phone Administrator Guide Configuring Common Features6AOSAG0001-31A Copyright © 2011 ADTRAN, Inc. 41Defining Line RegistrationsThe IP 706 phone supports up to 6 lines and the IP 712 phone supports up to 12 lines each served from aunique proxy/registrar server. This allows a different line for every line key on the phone. The line is calleda multiple call appearance (MCA) type if it will be assigned to one or more line keys on the same phone. Itis called a shared call appearance (SCA) type if the line is shared across multiple phones. Table 3 belowprovides a few guidelines to follow when assigning line types to a phone. The line registrations are defined in the MAC address-based configuration file for each phone. Additionalinformation about the parameters shown in the following example is provided in Appendix A on page 57.This example shows how to configure an MCA line of a PBX:#Define Line 1. Reg.0.Multiple True and Reg.0.SharedFalseAn MCA should be assigned to at least 2 line keys forcomplete call handling flexibility.Button.1.Line 0 and Button.2.Line 0The parameters Reg.x.Shared and Reg.x.Multipleshould both be set to true to allow multiple appearanceson the phone to be used for SCA. All calls on sharedlines will arrive on appearance 1 and originate onappearance 1 when the line is idle. Appearance 2 isused only for transfer and conference originations.Reg.x.Shared True and Reg.x.Multiple TrueConsider disabling call logging for SCA-type lines. Many of the calls logged on this type of line may not beuseful and could quickly fill the history buffer.Reg.x.Logging FalseIf the number of pop-up windows becomes distractingon SCA-type lines, disable CallerID pop-ups.Reg.x.CallerIdPopup False
