ABB 45Uniswitch Operation andMaintenance Manual UNI S14GB 05-025.5 Repair5.5.1 Switchgear in generalInstructions • Carry out repair work immediately after a defect has beendiscovered.• Completely remove all rust from damaged paintwork areas on steelsheet and other steel parts by mechanical means, e.g. with a wirebrush.• Lightly roughen the surrounding paint coat and carefully degreasethe entire area. Then immediately apply an anti-rust primer and,after an appropriate hardening time, apply the top coat. Only usesuitable and compatible paints products.• Apply the topcoat in standard RAL 7035 color, or the relevantspecial color.• Carefully remove any white rust from:o aluminum/zinc surfaces with a wire brush or cleaning pad, e.g.Scotch-Brite, and clean loosely adhering particles with a dry,non-fraying cloth. Next treat the cleaned parts with zinc spray orzinc powder paint and, finally, treat with aluminum spray forcolor matching.o passivated operating parts and rust formation on phosphatisedparts with a wire brush or metal-free cleaning pad, e.g. Scotch-Brite, and clean with a dry cloth. Then grease evenly (withIsoflex Topas NB 52).! Follow the maintenance instructions in the manuals forindividual equipment components.• Check that the bolt connections at the contact points in the busbarsystem and the earth connections are tight, and that the contactsystem functions correctly.• Where necessary, grease slide plates and bearings in the cubicleagain or thoroughly clean them.
