TheVE8001/VE8001R is not intended for direct orindirect connection to the public telephonenetwork. When used with a customer premisetelephone system such as a key system or PBXsystem, these units are interfaced to the systemvia a fully protected page port or system centraloffice port, which is a fully protected interfacedevice. Also, the host system must beconfigured to disallow central office trunkconferencing in order to prevent indirectconnection to the public network.Precautionary DesignationsFCC InformationThis equipment has been tested and found tocomply with the limits for a Class A digitaldevice, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.These limits are designed to provide reasonableprotection against harmful interference whenthe equipment is operated in a commercialenvironment. This equipment generates, usesand can radiate radio frequency energy and ifnot installed and used in accordance with theinstruction manual, may cause harmfulinterference to radio communications.Operation of this equipment in a residential areamay cause harmful interference in which casethe user will be required to correct theinterference at his own expense.MountingThe VE8001 is designed for wall or table mounting.The VE8001R is designed for 19” rack mounting(1U).Table: Provided with the VE8001 are four rubberpads. Peel these pads off their carrier backing andplace at the four corners of the bottom of the unit.Wall: Secure mounting brackets to the VE8001,then secure the VE8001 to the wall. See Figure 1.Rack: Secure mounting brackets to the VE8001R.See Figure 1. Place the VE8001R into a standard19” rack and secure to rack with proper hardware(not included).Figure 1.Power ConnectionsThe preferred method of powering aVE8001/VE8001R is via a Power over Ethernet(PoE) switch meeting the 802.3af specification.If the rear panel barrel connector is used for power,the preferred power supply is a Valcom VIP-324.Make all required signal connections beforeapplying power to the unit. If powering via 802.3af,make sure all signal connections via the back panelare made then connect the VE8001/VE8001R tothe Ethernet switch.If power is supplied via the barrel connector, makesure all signal connections are secure. Attach theunit to the network via the front panel RJ-45Ethernet connector. Apply power by plugging thepower supply into the VE8001/VE8001R via thebarrel connector on the rear of theVE8001/VE8001R. |
