Providing 1.8 Kilowatts ofclamping transient protection, the Model 530 is easy to install and won'tslow network performance. The Model 530 connects directly between incoming ThickNet datacables and LAN I/O ports. Damaging transients are shunted to chassisground through a braided metal strap before they can impact expensivenetwork hardware. The Model 530 guards against transients generatedby lightning, electric motors, florescent lights, static discharge andnumerous other environmental hazards.Using a hybrid circuit that incorporates Silicon Avalanche Diodes, the Model 530 can take repeated "hits" up to its rated capacity withoutdegrading in performance. If the Model 530 should encounter a severetransient above its voltage rating, it will fail "open" to protect theconnected hardware from damage. In this case, all signals (includingdata) are sent directly to ground, indicating to you that the Model 530has "sacrificed itself" for your system and needs to be replaced.Warning: This product will not provide complete protection should yourequipment or building be subject to a direct lightning hit.21INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSPatton's Model 530 is easy to install and should give you years oftrouble-free service.
