1515Initial SetupIMPORTANT NOTE:Caution for optical digital audiooutput connector:• When connecting an amplifier (with an Opticaldigital input connector) which does not containthe Dolby Digital or dts decoder, be sure toselect “PCM” at “Dolby Digital” and “PCM” at“dts” of the Settings for DVD Operation “AUDIOOUTPUT” (see page 49). Otherwise, anyattempt to play DVDs may cause such a highlevel of noise that it may be harmful to yourears and damage your speakers.• When a dts decoder is connected, pleaseselect “Bitstream” at “dts” of the Settings forDVD Operation “AUDIO OUTPUT.” If “PCM” isselected, there will be stereo sound. WhileCDs are recorded in 44.1 kHz/16 bit, DVDs are recorded in48 kHz/16 bit up to 96 kHz/24 bit.• If you have a Dolby Pro Logic Surround decoder, you willobtain the full benefit of Pro Logic from the same DVDmovies that provide full 5.1 channel Dolby Digitalsoundtracks, as well as from titles with the Dolby Surroundmark.
