The keypad is interactive--its alphanumeric screen will not only display thestatus of your system, but will also guide youthrough all operations.This booklet contains important informationabout the operation of your system with thisGEM-RP8LCD Keypad. Read it carefully andkeep it handy for future reference. Check theGlossary for an explanation of terms that may beunfamiliar to you.You'll probably find subjects mentioned inthis booklet that do not apply to your system.Napco control panels have such a wide variety offeatures that few security systems, if any, willever need them all. Your alarm professional haschosen appropriate features for your particularneeds.Regardless of how your system has beenconfigured, rest assured that it has beencarefully designed and engineered to thehighest industry standards. To assure optimumsafety and security, familiarize yourself with thisequipment. Periodically check its condition andstate of readiness by testing it at least once aweek in both the ac/battery and battery-onlymodes (ac disconnected). Ask your alarmprofessional how to make these tests.I N T R O D U C T I O NIMPORTANT - TEST YOUR SYSTEM WEEKLYTest your sounding device and backup battery(Perform these tests only at a time designated by your alarm company).! While disarmed, press R 1.• The alarm will sound for about two seconds.• If the alarm does not sound, call for service.• If the battery is low, ìLOW BATTERYî will appear in the displayindicating a low battery condition. Allow 24 hours for the battery torecharge. If the trouble continues, call for service.Test your central station communicator! For the P800 Panel system ONLY, use the following procedure:1. Notify Central Station of the impending test.2. Secure all zones to light the Status Light on your keypad.3. Enter your User Code followed by U to Arm the system.4. Violate your alarm by opening a window / door etc.5. The siren or bell should sound and the system will send the alarmsignals to the Central Station.6. Enter your User Code followed by U to silence the alarm.7. Call Central Station to insure that the alarm signals were receivedproperly.! For All Other Systems (such as the P801 Panel)1. Notify your Central Station of the impending test.2. While disarmed, enter your User Code and press R.3. Press R until ìACTIVATE DIALER TESTî appears in the window.4. Press U to send a test code to the central station.• If the test is not successful, ìFAIL TO COMMî will display,indicating a communication failure. Call for service.Note: Any subsequent successful transmission will clear a ìFailureto Communicateî system trouble.
