5could cause the tool to jump backwards, butkickback forces can be controlled by the operator, ifproper precautions are taken.• When blade is binding, or when interrupting acut for any reason, release the trigger and holdthe tool motionless in the material until theblade comes to a complete stop. Never attemptto remove the tool from the work or pull the toolbackward while the blade is in motion orKICKBACK may occur. Investigate and takecorrective actions to eliminate the cause of bladebinding.• When restarting a tool in the workpiece, centerthe blade in the kerf and check that blade teethare not engaged into the material. If blade isbinding, it may walk up or kickback from theworkpiece as the tool is restarted.• Support large panels to minimise the risk ofblade pinching and kickback. Large panels tendto sag under their own weight.Supports must be placed under the panel on bothsides, near the line of cut and near the edge of thepanel.• Do not use dull or damaged blades.Unsharpened or improperly set blades producenarrow kerf causing excessive friction, bladebinding and kickback.• Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking leversmust be tight and secure before making cut. Ifblade adjustment shifts while cutting, it may causebinding and kickback.• Use extra caution when making a “plunge cut”into existing walls or other blind areas. Theprotruding blade may cut objects that can causekickback. For plunge cuts, retract lower guard usingretracting handle.10. Check lower guard for proper closing before eachuse. Do not operate the tool if lower guard doesnot move freely and close instantly. Never clampor tie the lower guard into the open position. If toolis accidentally dropped, lower guard may be bent.Raise the lower guard with the retracting lever andmake sure it moves freely and does not touch theblade or any other part, in all angles and depths of cut.To check lower guard, open lower guard by hand, thenrelease and watch guard closure. Also check to seethat retracting handle does not touch tool housing.Leaving blade exposed is VERY DANGEROUS andcan lead to serious personal injury.11. Check the operation and condition of the lowerguard spring. If the guard and the spring are notoperating properly, they must be serviced beforeuse. Lower guard may operate sluggishly due todamaged parts, gummy deposits, or a buildup ofdebris.12. Lower guard should be retracted manually only forspecial cuts such as “plunge cuts” and“compound cuts.” Raise lower guard by retractinghandle and as soon as blade enters the material, the lower guard must be released. For all othersawing, the lower guard should operate automatically.13. Always observe that the lower guard is coveringthe blade before placing tool down on bench orfloor. An unprotected, coasting blade will cause thetool to walk backwards, cutting whatever is in its path.Be aware of the time it takes for the blade to stop afterswitch is released.14. Do not stop the blades by lateral pressure on theblade.15. DANGER:Do not attempt to remove cut material when bladeis moving.CAUTION: Blades coast after turn off.16. Place the wider portion of the tool base on thatpart of the workpiece which is solidly supported, not on the section that will fall off when the cut ismade.17. Never attempt to make a cut with the tool heldupside down in a vise. This is extremelydangerous and can lead to serious accidents.18. Wear safety goggles and hearing protectionduring operation.19. Always use blades recommended in this manual.Do not use any abrasive wheels.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.WARNING:MISUSE or failure to follow the safety rules stated inthis instruction manual may cause serious personalinjury.IMPORTANT SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS ENC007-2FOR BATTERY CARTRIDGE1. Before using battery cartridge, read allinstructions and cautionary markings on (1)battery charger, (2) battery, and (3) product usingbattery.2. Do not disassemble battery cartridge.3. If operating time has become excessively shorter, stop operating immediately. It may result in a riskof overheating, possible burns and even anexplosion.4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse them outwith clear water and seek medical attention rightaway. It may result in loss of your eyesight.5. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with anyconductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a containerwith other metal objects such as nails, coins,etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to water orrain.A battery short can cause a large current flow, overheating, possible burns and even abreakdown. |
