Instructions for useNote: This tester is intended for use only on a 230Vmains 13A socket outlet. (BS 1363 configuration)1 Plug the tester into a 13A socket outlet.3 Read the socket outlet condition. The tester will then check the condition of the wiringand show the result in the three LED Loop Test bar.Green LED withcontinuous toneindicates thewiring condition isgood with safetyearth path lessthan 1.80Ω.Flashing amberLED with warbletone indicatesthe incomingmains should bechecked to see if the system is using an earth rod forprotection. Safety earth path is between 1.80Ω and92Ω. If the system is protected by an earth rod thenan RCD should be present.2 Switch on.When first powered up the LEDs in the grey triangleflash green then red once as it performs a self test. This is immediately followed by a socket correct wiringtest. The LEDs willshow all green witha continuous tone ifthe wiring is correct.Any other LED colouror warble toneindicates incorrectwiring and all furthertests are inhibited.Check the indicationdisplayed by theLEDs against the table for an indication of the wiringstatus. After approximately 4 seconds the green LEDs turn off.Additional functions4 Polarity CheckThe LEDs in the grey triangle flash green with acontinuous tone if it is correct. If the LEDs flash red with a warble tone this ispotentially a very hazardous condition – immediateattention required.Flashing red LED with warbling means the earth pathis over 93Ω. This may not be dangerous but thevalue should be checked using an earth loop testerwith a read out to check the value meets the wiringregulations. The tester is designed not to trip RCDs.If the main distribution board is fitted with an RCD and ittrips during the test this could be:a) there is already high leakage current between Line(Live) and earthb) the earth and neutral are reversed.Either needs investigation by a qualified electrician.5 RCD Check (30mA RCD)Press the purple test switch for at least half a second tostart the RCD test.If the LED goes outand the tone stopsthe RCD has trippedand is working. If the LED remainsilluminated and thetone continues, thetest button has notbeen pressed forlong enough to start the test. If the LED in the Loop Testbar goes out and the three LEDs in the grey triangleflash amber accompanied by a warble tone, the testcurrent has been applied for 300ms and the RCD hasnot tripped. It should be investigated.Wiring Indication ChartLEDs show actual pin location Line, Earth, NeutralNote: LEDs will also flash to indicate fault condition.Kewtech Corporation LimitedT: 01494 792 212 F: 01494 791 826 E: sales@kewtechcorp.comkewtechcorp.com
