The chimney or venting system should beinspected periodically throughout the heating season to determine ifa creosote buildup has occurred. If a significant layer of creosote hasaccumulated (mm or more), it should be removed to reduce the riskof a chimney fire. A professional chimney sweep is recommended,since they would normally have the correct equipment to ensureproper creosote removal.If you experience a fire in the venting system, turn the stove to"OFF" to allow the unit to shut down. Call the fire department, and besure everyone is out of the residence.
