• Turn the meter on by pressing the button. Allsegments will be displayed. When the displayshows “Add”, “C.1” with “Press” blinking, themeter is ready.• Fill the cuvette with 10 mL of unreacted sampleand replace the cap. Place the cuvette into themeter and close the meter’s cap.• Press the button. When the display shows“Add”, “C.2” with “Press” blinking the meteris zeroed.• Remove the cuvette from the meter and unscrewthe cap. Add 4 drops of HI715A-0 reagent A.Replace the cap and swirl the solution.• Unscrew the cap and add 4 drops of HI715B-0reagent B. Replace the cap and swirl thesolution. Place the cuvette back into the meter.• Press and hold the button until the timer isdisplayed on the LCD (the display will showthe countdown prior to the measurement)or, alternatively, wait for 3 minutes and30 seconds and press the button.• The instrument displays the results in mg/L(ppm) of ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N). To convertthe reading to ppm of ammonia (NH3), multiplythe reading by factor of 1.214. Pleasecheck the preparation of the zero cuvette.Light Low: There is not enough light to perform a measurement. Pleasecheck the preparation of the zero cuvette.Inverted Cuvettes: The sample and the zero cuvette are inverted.Under Range: A blinking “0.00” indicates that the sample absorbs lesslight than the zero reference. Check the procedure and make sure you usethe same cuvette for reference (zero) and measurement.Over Range: A flashing value of the maximum concentration indicatesthe reading is over range. Dilute the sample and re-run the test.Battery Low: The battery must be replaced soon.Dead Battery: This indicates that the battery is dead and must bereplaced.
