CHAPTER 4: Upgrading Your Computer624 Loosen the four screws that secure the heat sink to thesystem board, then remove the heat sink. (The screwscannot be completely removed.)5 Release the processor by pushing down on the lever,then lifting the lever completely up.6 Remove the processor from the system board.7 Install the new processor onto the system board makingsure that Pin 1 on the processor (indicated by thesilk-screened arrow on the corner of the processor)aligns with Pin 1 on the processor socket (indicated bythe absence of a pin hole in the processor socket), thenreturn the lever to its locked position.8 Place the heat sink on the system board, then tightenthe screws that secure it to the system board.CautionThe heat sink has Thermal Interface Material (TIM) located on thebottom of it. Use caution when you remove the old heat sink or unpackthe new heat sink so you do not damage the TIM.Screws
