Chapter 2 Installing Your ARMC/2 CardBefore You StartAvoid Electro-Static Discharge (ESD)Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) can damage the ARMC/2 card and other systemcomponents. Keep your ARMC/2 card in its anti-static bag until it is to be installed.Avoid contact with any component or connector on any adapter card, printed circuitboard, or memory module. Handle these components by the mounting bracket.Perform all unpacking and installation procedures on a ground-connected anti-static mat.Wear an anti-static wristband grounded at the same point as the anti-static mat. You canalso use a sheet of conductive aluminum foil grounded through a one megaohm resistorinstead of the anti-static mat. Similarly, a strip of conductive aluminum foil wrappedaround the wrist and grounded through a one megaohm resistor serves the same purposeas a wristband.ARMC/2 Installation and SetupUse the following steps to install the ARMC/2 card into the host system.Step Action1 Unpack the ARMC/2 card (and check jumper settings)2 Plug in the ARMC/2 card into the host system and attach internal cables3 Connect external cables4 Confirm the motherboard’s BIOS settings5 Install the operating system and ARMC/2 card’s drivers6 Install all ARMC/2 Windows Software Components7 Setup your client system’s Internet browser8 Connect to the ARMC/2 from a client system9 Load the ARMC/2 SDR and Soft Processor (SP) File for your motherboard orserver board modelNote: Inspect the cardboard carton for obvious damage.ARMC/2 User’s Guide4
